Masai 30 Years
August 2022
2022 is a special year for us at Masai as it’s the year we turn 30, an achievement we are grateful for and don't take for granted. We feel there is a rare beauty in celebrating 30 years of Masai, and we’re allowing ourselves the not-very-Danish joy of taking pride in our own success.
The amazing people who have been a part of our journey are definitely the reason for our success. So we have invited nine women, both colleagues and customers, to an open, honest and personal talk about turning 30, about being a woman today and about why Masai is so special. All of this has been put together into a lovely story that feels like the perfect way to celebrate ourselves and Masai.
Bear in mind that we are not actors or models, and that we did this as well and honestly as we could with the aim celebrating Masai through a personal narrative.

Fionnuala is working together with some of our biggest accounts and makes sure we are successful together. Fionnuala has been working for Masai since 2016.
Johanna is responsible for selling to our customers in the northern part of Sweden. Johanna has been working for Masai since 2020. She started by working in retail but today she works from our showroom in Stockholm where she takes good care of our Swedish retailers.
Christina is our Head of Marketing, and she has been with Masai since 2019. Christina takes care of everything we say about Masai, she is the voice of our brand. It is important to her that our communication with customers is honest, relevant and interesting.
Martina is our store manager in our Masai Store in Aalborg, Denmark. She has been with Masai since 2019. Martina meets our customers on a daily basis, and is therefore a very important Masai ambassador. As she herself says, ”I always bring my heart to work”, making sure that everyone who visits the store gets the best possible experience.
Pia is one of our loyal wholesale Masai customers. She has her own store, Maggie Dee, in the Eastern part of Denmark. Pia has been buying Masai collections for her store since 2000. We are very proud of the partnership we have with Pia - it’s a partnership we cherish and do not take for granted.
Michelle is a true Masai customer. We got to know Michelle by chance – meeting her on a day when she was wearing Masai from top to toe. Michelle works as a jazz singer and she loves wearing Masai as she feels comfortable, modern and classic at the same time. Michelle has been a Masai customer for the last 2-3 years. We are proud to have her as our customer.
MASAI STORIES are portraits of women’s lives, presented through thoughts and reflections from a group of dedicated and passionate women. The stories reflect on diversity, openness, courage and, not least, the freedom to be and want to be yourself. Through meetings these women, who all inspired us with their life choices and creativity, we wanted to create a special insight into women’s lives. Our stories portray the strength and beauty that emerges when your life passions are allowed to blossom, and when you choose to listen to yourself and pursue your dreams.

Paper artist Veronica Hodges collects paintings of women from the 1800s, painted by women. She believes there’s an honesty and sensuality to them that differs from when men paint women. She also believes that happiness is a form of creativity and that creativity is just like a muscle – you need to exercise it regularly.
Anne Dvinge
Founder of LOW-FI Concerts, Anne Dvinge, grew up with music and with the will to always get up no matter how hard she falls. That drive and, not least, a passion for music, led to her creating Denmark's biggest platform for home concerts, an enterprise that makes sense more than ever now in a time of cultural restrictions and lack of community.
